After winning the Ursula Morton Choreography Competition in 2001, while at The Royal Ballet School in London, Pietra started on the path to becoming a producer through her subsequent choreographies. Born in Rio de Janeiro, to a Brazilian mother and an English father she has always had a passion for mixing dance and music styles in her pieces, which included an Indian themed ballet to music by Ravi Shankar and Yehudi Menuin, a robotics inspired ballet to Rene Aubry, and a piece on globalization, mixing classical music with Brazilian percussion music.

Pietra strongly believes in the fusion of the arts and prior to setting up Sisters grimm with Composer Ella Spira in 2009, Pietra nurtured her passion for film, music and arts production and collaborated on and performed outside the Royal Ballet, in multimedia events, photo shoots, music videos and promotions with brands and artists including MasterCard, Van Cleef and Arpels, Agent Provocateur, Christina Aguillera, Shirley Bassey, Bacardi, The Loose Cannons, Mayka Amrami, Anna Runefelt, Catherine Taylor and Emerald Faerie Fiona Gall.
